Frozen Hot Chocolate

A hot summer day like today always leaves me craving something cool and refreshing.  This got me thinking about the novelty I heard of sometime ago - frozen hot chocolate.  So, I decided to give it a try and I am so glad that I did! Its perfectly cold and chocolatey.  I decided to try it with the Sulpice™ Chocolat Menthe bar and the touch of cooling mint complimented this refreshing summer beverage perfectly.    In another word...delicious!

  • 1 Sulpice™ Chocolat Menthe bar (or 3 oz of chopped dark chocolate)
  • 2 teaspoons hot cocoa mix
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 3 cups ice
  • whipped cream, for garnish
  • chocolate dust, for garnish


Chop the chocolate into small, evenly sized pieces and gently melt the chocolate in a double boiler or in short bursts in the microwave, being careful not to scorch the chocolate.  Stir occasionally until melted. Add the hot chocolate mix and blend well.

Remove from heat and gradually add 1/2 of the milk.   Stir until smooth and let cool to room temperature.

Add the milk, chocolate mixture, and ice to a blender and blend on high speed until smooth.   Serve with a dollop of whipped cream and a dusting of chocolate.
